Overview
"Les Marrons"(The Chestnuts)is a homely bourgeoise house in the Vienne countryside. Rooms are en-suite and continental breakfast is included in the price, or for an extra 5 euros a full English breakfast is offered. 4-course evening meals, including wine, are also available by request.
The house is situated on the edge of the village of Moncontour, which is famous for its XIth century donjon (tower) which overlooks the surrounding countryside. There are enjoyable walks along the little River Dive which meanders through the village to the trout lake and to the leisure lake and beach, (swimming and boating facilities in the summer months).
Moncontour is 45 minutes drive from Poitiers airport, and 20 minutes drive to the market towns of Loudun and Thouars. Many other interesting towns and chateaux are also easily accessible.
