This is your property ?
Overview
La frogerie is a 160 year old farmhouse, situated in a small hamlet of 4 houses, two miles from the village of Martigne-Ferchaud.
The area is known as la pay de la roches aux fees (Fairies Rock Country) located in Haute-Bretagne at the doorway to Brittany.
The house is in a very quiet rural location between Rennes and Nantes. It stands in an acre of ground with beautiful views across the fields and countryside beyond.
La Frogerie offers the ideal location for a peaceful and restful holiday but with plenty in the area for the more active.
La frogerie has 2 bedrooms that sleep a maximum of 4 adults, 2 children and a baby.
It is a traditional stone building or longerie with all the windows facing south to the front of the house. The other end of the property, out of shot of this photograph, contains old animal stalls. All accommodation is on the ground floor with no steps or stairs and therefore would suit clients with limited mobility.
Bear in mind that the house is in the countryside so you will see mice, lizards, frogs and spiders etc. We once found a barn owl in the attic!

Location & area
The house is conveniently situated in Ille-et-Vilaine (35) but on the borders of 3 other departments or counties, Maine et Loire (49), Mayenne (53), Loire Atlantique (44). It is a great location for touring the north and south areas of Brittany and the Loire Valley. The roads in the area are very quiet making touring a pleasure.
The nearest village of Martigne-Ferchaud has two good supermarkets, banks, post office, bakers, butchers and deli. There are a number of small bars and restaurants (opening times at owner's discretion!). There is also a lake with a small man made beach.
The area is ideal for cycling and walking in the quiet country lanes around the house. There are number of circular walks and cycle routes conveniently signposted. Fishing, golf, horse riding, karting and horse-racing can all be found in the area.
In August the village comes alive for the annual Etincelles Aquatiques. A pyrotechnical extravaganza with over 250 actors and 950 volunteers.
Why not visit our favourite restaurant at la roche aux fees. There are many other great restaurants in the area whatever your budget or taste.
A colourful market can be found at Chateaubriant (15K) on Wednesdays where you can buy fresh local produce. Chateaubriant has the 3rd largest cattle market in France. The town is steeped in history with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The very ancient Bere Fair is held here on the second weekend of September. The fair is over 950 years old. There is a green cycle route from Rouge to Chateaubriant which apparently runs along a old train track. It is 13KM long and with no motor vehicles so great for the little ones.
To the south of Chateaubriant is Grand Reservoir de Voireau (30 mins by car). Here is a safe man-made beach with pedaloes, swimming, café, showers, changing rooms, wind-surfing and sailing. Another lake beach (picture right) can be found at Pouance (16 KM). This is a little closer to the house and also has a small beach café, showers, playground, and swimming with waters sports during high season.
For children there is the Domaine de la Petite Couere at Segre. It has a motor museum, old French village, picnic areas and animals. An open air swimming pool can be found at Nozay. Mini golf and 10 pin bowling can be found in Chateaubriant.
Rennes (46 KM), to the north and the capital of Brittany is a city of art and history. It boasts a magnificent architectural heritage where the classical rubs shoulders with the medieval.
Nantes (84 KM) is to the south on the River Loire, home to Muscadet, Rose dAnjou and other fine wines.
Also within a short driving distance are Vitre (38 KM), Angers (82 KM), Redon (72 KM) and Fougeres (70 KM).
Further afield are St Malo - 118 KM, Mont-St-Michel 118 KM, La Baule 116 KM, Golfe du Morbihan and the Chateaux of the Loire.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
