For years, the secret garden of Le Galawa was not to be shared with visitors, but now we are delighted to be able, for the first time, to welcome our guests to a delightful one-bedroom ground floor apartment.

Tastefully and stylishly refurbished, the apartment is the perfect bolthole for couples, or a retreat for two or three friends to share.

Step through the central arch, like a cathedral butress silhouetted against a bright blue sky, and discover your own private space in the heart of this secluded courtyard. From the central gardens, open the little portail into the apartment's own private patio, with potted plants around the stylishly tiled veranda area for an aperitif before strolling to take supper at the quayside restaurants.

Here, amid climbing plants and discreet outdoor lighting, is the bonus summer outdoor room for sharing magic moments under the Languedoc skies. Perhaps tonight you may dine a deux or invite friends to join you for dinner al fresco under the evening stars in this private jardinet patio. Break bread, slice a hearty country pate, mix a salad or indulge in a platter of the famous Basin de Thau oysters, fresh from the waters of the lagoon beyond the garden gate. Of course, you could close the big white wooden shutters and the french windows and stay indoors.

The open plan living area, with the original centuries old stones and beams exposed on one wall, has its comfortable sofa (easilly converts into a guest bed if your dinner companions decide to stay for just one last glass or few of the local muscat) and the dining suite.

A warm and smart room, ideal for entertaining. There is a TV and DVD for quiet nights in and the neatly conceived smart and contemporary kitchen area, with its convienent work space and bright lighting, has four ring electric hob, oven, microwave fridge and, essential extra for those who love cooking and eating but draw the line at working after dessert - the dishwasher.

Beyond the open-plan space is the privacy of the bedroom, the light of the dawn filters in through a skylight and a comfortable double bed is the centre piece of this snuggest of snug dens.
