Location & area
Le Dorat is officially a 'cit' de caract're' - a 'city of special character or interest'. While it has all the facilities you would expect to find in any moderately sized town, it retains the character of a typical French village of the Limousin region. There is a wide range of shops, hairdressers, a bank and a post office. We have several restaurants of different types, but bear in mind that we also offer you the facility to dine here in the evening if you prefer.
There are many points of historical interest in the town, principally the remarkable 12th century church, the Coll'giale de St Pierre. If you wish to venture further afield, the city of Poitiers and the regional capital, Limoges, are easily reached, either by train from the station here in Le Dorat, or by car. Both have international airports, and journey time is under an hour either way.
