Location & area
15kms south of Bergerac Issigeac is a small town of 650 people.
Founded by the Romans and named after Issis it is one of the best examples of a preserved 12th and 13th century
bastide town, complete with surrounding walls and a moat.
It has one of the best and largest Sunday markets in the area, 4 restaurants, 2 butchers, 2 general stores, an organic co-op and several Boulangeries, one of which is 20m from the house - perfect for fresh bread and croissants everyday.
Additionally the town has banks, pharmacies and a tourist office. There are numerous boutique shops to browse in selling ceramics and antiques. It also has an Art gallery and a local glass blower, where you can try it out for yourself!
There is even a Zen Centre should you feel the need for additional help in relaxing.
Close by is the famous Chateau of Montbazilliac, stroll around the grounds, visit the Chateau itself and try the wine.
There are numerous other wine producers in the area where you can try before you buy.
If walking is an interest there are many pleasant trails to take from the town.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
