Overview

We are in the Charente in South West France, just 1 hour away from the sandy beaches at the Atlantic Ocean. Easy reach from airports La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Limoges, Poitiers and Angouleme. Au Bellefleur has a private lounge for guests, Le Bistro, with a multi-lingual library, not just of books, but also games for young and old.

We serve breakfast and dinner in ‘Le Bistro’ when it’s a bit fresh outside and when the evenings are getting cooler, you can sit around the fire with a glass of something warming. When the sun is shining especially in the summer we serve breakfast and dinner outside on the terrace.

Au Bellefleur has a spacious garden with cherry trees, a fig tree, prunes, wallnuts and of course apples from our own ˜Bellefleur apple tree. You are free to sit in the shade under our natural umbrellas or soak up the sun all day long, come and go as you please during your stay with us.

All our rooms have complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, as well as toiletries, hair dryer and alarm clock radio.

There's always a brocante or a local fest in the area.

Jarnac(4 km)On the river Charente is the home of the house of the world famous Courvoisier Cognac distiller which is well worth a visit. You can also hire canoes if your feeling enerjectic or let the small pleasure boat take you on a short guided tour of the Charente. On the Ile de Madame you will find a lovely small park and an open air swimming-pool.

Angouleme(30 km) sometimes referred to as the city of festivals, is a walled city built high on a hilly out crop and is famous for its art, culture and shopping, as well as its annual classic car rally round the ramparts in September and international comic festival in January along with many other cultural festivals throughout the year.
30-45 km Saintes, an ancient city founded around the first century AD, famous for its Roman amphitheatre and other cultural activities and another good centre for shopping.

80-100 km Atlantic Ocean with large sandy beaches, many of which are patrolled by life guards during the high season.
120 km La Rochelle, based around the historic harbour protected by three towers at the harbour entrance, it is a town full of life, with endless boutiques and terraces and restaurants, you can't get the fish fresher! Or visit Ile de Re, a 30 km long island with beautiful sandy beaches and row upon row of oyster beds. Fort Boyard, where the game show was held, is open to the public and is a short boat ride from La Rochelle.

130 km Bordeaux, a city with grandeur on the banks of the Gironde and gateway to the wines of the Gironde region.
