Overview

You will stay on enclosed and private grounds, in age-old renovated accommodation. Dogs are therefore welcome. This site is called Sauvegrain and it can be found 1,5 mile away from the historic town of Chinon, region Centre, Indre-et-Loire department, with its stately fort high up on the hill, on the river Vienne, and cosy terraced cafes in the town itself. The holiday studio(gite) sleeps a maximum of four, with a private patio and garden. The accommodation is luxuriously fitted. The prices are all-in; no hidden surprises here.
The wooden beam construction of the main house, in which the studio is situated, dates from the 15th century, and has been gradually renovated since 2004, turning it from a ruin into a comfortable, detached house. The house as a whole has a surface area of more than 200 m2 in two storeys. The holiday cottage itself offers 60 m2 of space and has a large private patio and garden. It has its own kitchenette and living room on the ground floor and a bathroom and bedroom on the first floor. The bedroom has a double divan bed and an antique three-quarter bed. The living room is cosily furnished and there is room to park a car.

In the nearby surroundings the following activities can be explored: fishing, canooing, cycling, castles, gardens, boat trips, swimming, tennis, golf. Interesting cities within one hour drive: Saumur, Bourgeuil, Tours, Azay le Rideau, Usse, Richelieu.
On the premises bicycles are available and convertibles (incl. motor with sidecar) can be rented.

Chinon

Chinon is within walking distance (2.5 km) and is a relaxed tourist town with plenty of historic sights, such as the enormous castle where Jeanne D’Arc was given her army by Charles VII in 1429, to liberate Orleans. The town also has many cosy terraced cafes and shopping streets. The private premises where the studio is located comprises 5 acres on the board of the river Vienne.

The accommodation rates include
1. Weekend stay: arrival on Sunday from 15.00 hours, departure on Sunday from 10.00 hours
2.Linen package for kitchen and bathroom (beds made up upstairs); choice of pillows.

4. Welcoming package with candles, wine, beer, soft drinks and tapas

10. When renting accommodation for at least a week, an hour’s test drive with your choice of convertible is included (driving license required of course). When renting for two weeks or more, a half day out in the convertible (4 hours) is usually possible.
11. Use of electricity and water, and final cleaning.

Added options are:
1. Possibility to make reservations for the BBQ Sauvegrain Sous Soleil, every Wednesday in the summer for 30 Euros p.p. all-in (children under 11 free);
2. Possibility to book trips with convertibles or motorbikes with or without a package (see latest information on the website).
3. French language assistance when making bookings elsewhere (for restaurants, go-carting, guided tours etc.)
4. Use of washing machine and tumble dryer for a small charge.
5. Transportation service fom/to airport or high-speed train station Tours or railway station Chinon.
