Overview

Chaillac is a pretty village in the Indre region with a population of around 1,100 and we are at the heart of it on the village square, next to the historic church. Here you will also find the Butcher, Baker, all important Wine Cave, bars and a fabulous restaurant,  La Gerbe de Blé. There is a lake 5 minutes walk from the house where you can swim and fish and there are lots of opportunities for walking and rambling. If you need to travel further afield the A20 Motorway(toll free) is only 15 minutes away and from there you can get to Limoges airport (Belgarde) in 40 minutes and on to Toulouse and then the Spanish Border in 5 Hours. Travelling North, Paris is 3 hours and the Channel Ports of Le Havre and Caen 5 and Calais and Boulogne 6. Going West you find the A10 and on to the Atlantic Coast in 2 to 3 hours via delicious little towns like St Savin with its 900 year old abbey, Chauvigny with its castle and Eagle Show and the famous city of Poitiers which has everything; historic monuments and churches, shops bars and restaurants and of course Futuroscope.



At the house we have four large comfortable bedrooms for our guests, all of which have en-suite shower rooms. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate large dogs as our own Jack Russel is very spoilt! Breakfast is served at a time to suit you and is included in the price of the room, which is from 40 Euros per night, depending on the time of year. There is plenty of free parking on the square outside the house.



As you might expect the region is littered with pretty villages and towns such as the médiéval towns of St Benoit du Sault, just 5 minutes from us, and the charming village of Gargilesse where George Sands lived and worked now home to many artistes whose studios are open to the public. Eguson is close by with more beaches, waterskiing, jetskiing and scuba diving.
Many people are now coming to France house hunting, just as we were, so we’ll be happy to pass on any advice, just ask. Chaillac is a good central spot for the Limousin, Indre, Poitou Charentes and the Creuse.

Location & area

15 minutes from the A20 junctions 20 and 21 at the centre of the village with local bars and restaurants. Swimming and fishing lakes a 10 minute walk away. Close to larger towns such as St Benoit, Argenton sur Creuse, La Souterrain, Montmorillion on the borders of the Indre, Vienne, Creuse and Haut Vienne.
