Overview

It is 10 minutes walk from La Cite, which is the largest fortified town in Europe, second largest tourist attraction in France next to the Eiffel Tower.

Within walking distance is the train station, taxi rank and numerous buses including the airport navette.

Other tourist attractions include le Carcassonne lac de la Cavayère and La Cité des oiseaux, le parc.

During the summer there is also many festivals and "fete's" in the area, le festival de musique in June, the Tour De France in July, in August there is the Spanish Festival with various artist singing and dancing and in la Cité there is the "Night Of Fire" on the 14th July with an amazing firework display.

There are also plenty of Vide Greniers (car boots) in the area during the summer months.

Its a couple of hours from the pyrennées by coach/car to go snowboarding/ski-ing, usually the season starts November and finishes March.

The center of Carcassonne, Place Carnot, has Christmas markets and an Ice rink in december.
