Location & area

Sunny Beach, the largest holiday resort on the Black Sea coast is a bearer of the prestigious BLUE FLAG prize and is situated 36 km north of Burgas and about 90 km to the south of Varna. It numbers over 120 hotels, erected in long and wide lanes, surrounded by green and shady parks.
The wide semi-circular bay facing east boasts an 8 km long, 30 - 60 m wide beach which is generally regarded as the best beach along the coast and stretches as far south as Nessebar.

It is naturally protected by the Balkan mountain range to the north, and with its warm climate, clean and calm water and safe swimming, it is a perfect all-round holiday destination, living up to its motto Where families come first.

Over 130 restaurants and taverns cater to foreign tastes with a wide range of cuisine. Eating establishments range from restaurants and traditional Bulgarian mehanas, to an unusual Bulgarian experience offered at the Hanska Shatra (Khans Tent), which has a superb setting, mosaic interior and live folk music.

Located on an island joined to the main land by a causeway just 3 km from Sunny Beach, Nessebar is a small rocky town, included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage.

With its ancient fortress walls, mediaeval churches, narrow cobblestone lanes, old wooden houses with strings of dried fish hanging from their roofs, Nessebar is a living monument to over a 1000 years of human history.

Nessebar can be reached from Sunny Beach either by a 20 minute boat ride costing approximately 3.50 or by a 15 minute bus ride which costs about 20p.

Nightlife is varied and ranges from nightclubs, discos, casinos and bars, to cafes, folk-style spots and a variety of acts and entertainment in the local taverns.
Many of the bars and restaurants offer free entertainment ranging from live music, traditional dancing, magic shows, fire eating, Kareoke.

A number of the bars within the resort offer drink promotions such as happy hours or buy one get one free deals.

Typical prices range between 30p and 1.20 for a beer, 1.80 - 2.60 for a bottle of wine, 1.20 to 2.80 for cocktails.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud

It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:

  • It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
  • If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
  • Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
