Black Sea Coast
The eastern Bulgarian coast is washed by the Black Sea. 380 km of marvelous beaches, a calm and safe sea, clear water and healthy air, fine golden sand and natural dunes, mineral water springs, blue flag winning resorts, holiday villages and campsites.
Black Sea - Southern, including Elenite
Picturesque bays and whimsical rocks, spacious beaches with sand dunes and a warm sea typifies the Bulgarian Southern Black Sea coast. Wonderful nature in combination with modern construction - this is the magic of the holiday villages of Elenite, Sunny Beach, Nessebur and Sozopol. To the north the long and indented coast line is bordered by the farthest spurs of the Balkan range and to the south by the heights of the Strandzha Mountain. Even nowadays the unique culture in Strandzha is a part of attitudes and habits of Ahtopol, Tsarevo, Kiten and Primorsko. In restaurants and bars foreign tourists are enchanted by the unique artistic atmosphere of the Strandzha fire-dances. History, culture and luxury combined together - this is the Bourgas Black Sea coast!
Elenite
Where the southern slopes of the Balkan Mountains reach the sea, on a secluded and unspoilt bay, lies the marvelous holiday village of Elenite. This lovely Summer resort, established twenty years ago, is an elegant ensemble of luxury villas and traditional houses excellently situated and reflecting the charisma and charm of the Mediterranean, still unspoilt and evident today. Wander through the numerous towns and villages and you could be in the Mediterranean of yesteryear.
The panoramic views from the various settlements, perched on the steep terrain, reflect the atmosphere of Bulgarian towns during the Renaissance and give a romantic touch to your holiday. A magnificent and breathtaking landscape impresses while enjoying the thermal waters on the golden sandy shore in this quiet creek. The beautiful natural backdrop combined with the modern infrastructure is the perfect mixture for a relaxing holiday at this peaceful and luxurious complex.
Location: Elenite resort is situated at the foot of the Balkan Mountains, some 10 kilometers away from Sunny Beach, and 40 kilometers away from Bourgas. Just 20 minutes from the historic town of Nessebar, given World Heritage status in 1983.
Transport: The complex has an adjoining bus station and during the Summer season regular bus lines provide comfortable transport services. A panorama road stretches from this resort, through the village St.Vlas and reaches Sunny Beach. Airport transfers can be arranged and are inexpensive.
Night life: The location of Elenite resort gives the chance to enjoy thje restfulness of this residential area and at the same time convenience of being close to the hustle and bustle of exciting Sunny Beach.
Climate
Average air temperature on the coast in the summer is about 28°C, water temperature 25°C. There are more than 240 hours of sunshine in May and September and more than 300 hours in July and August.
Airports
The two international airports of Varna and Bourgas connects the Bulgarian Riviera to the world.
Prices
The cost of living in Bulgaria is substantially lower than in other countries and amongst the lowest world-wide. In particular eating and drinking is very inexpensive with a meal costing an average of EUR 5-7, a bottle of beer for less than EUR1 and a good Bulgarian wine costing around EUR 5 a bottle. A meal for 4 in Nessebar (close to Elenite) cost EUR 35 in August 2006 and that included two bottles of wine!
Nessebar
Situated on a peninsula in the Black Sea, connected with the mainland by a narrow isthmus, this is a town with a history going back millennia. Each era has left its permanent marks, and today the town is unique, a huge museum displaying the way of life of the different people that have inhabited it. On this tiny island, castle walls from Thracian times, defensive structures, private and public buildings from the Hellenistic period, medieval churches and renaissance buildings combine to form a unique atmosphere. Nearby is the famous Black Sea resort of Slunchev Briag (Sunny Beach). The churches were built during the early Byzantine period (V-VI) and during the middle ages (X-XIV). The oldest of them are the basilicas, cruciform with a single nave. The murals from the XIV-XVIII c. have an exceptional historic and artistic value, displaying the traditions and craftsmanship of the artisans and icon painters of that time. Old Nessebar was included in the World Register of Historical Sites in 1983.
