Overview

Situated on the Black Sea Coast, The Emerald Resort in Ravda provides the ideal base for sun, sea and relaxation.

Bulgaria is an ideal place for a summer holiday, with the average meal for two, including drinks, costing under 15 pounds.

The village is only 2 minutes away on foot and provides many great restaurants and bars. Sunny beach is also only a 5 minute taxi ride away.

Summers are characterized by hot dry weather, similar to the Mediterranean climate.

Bulgaria is the leading wine producer for Eastern Europe, with a good selection of wines available in most restaurants and the larger supermarkets stock a variety of Bulgaria's finest wines.

The resort lies between the resort towns of Pomorie and Nessebar, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is also 5km from the popular Sunny Beach (Slanchev Briag) resort. Ravda is 20km from Bourgas Airport - a number of airlines fly here. More information is held on my personal website at

Ravda is very popular with Bulgarians and Russians although English and German are widely understood in Restaurants, Bars and Shops. The main street has numerous restaurants, shops selling beach gear, clothing shops, ice-cream parlors and mini-markets. The best restaurants often have the biggest crowds and local entertainment but friendly staff will often find you a seat.

Taxis regularly patrol the major resorts and there are always a few outside the Emerald Resort. Charges are set, with a trip to Nessebar or Sunny Beach costing approximately 10 pounds.

Buses are also available and can be easily caught from the centre of Ravda (5 minutes walk). Tickets are cheap (a few Leva) and can be bought on the bus or at the main travel centre just next to the bus stop.

Car hire is available and reception will be able to help. Alternatively 3 minutes walk from the complex is a car hire centre with a range of cars from about 20-25 leva per day. Other links included are on my website

Small busy town with plenty of restaurants, bars and shops. Emerald itself has tennis courts, gym, spa, massage centre, jacuzzis, internet per room, 4 restaurants on site, indoor heated pool, several outdoor pools. 4 bars on site. Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud

It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:

  • It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
  • If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
  • Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
