Location & area
Bansko is a great place to ski and is a working town not a purpose built ski resort. The town has so much charm with its medieval old houses, cobbled streets and town square lined with cafes and bars. It also has the best snow record and the longest ski season in Bulgaria (15 Dec - mid April). The town is 935m above sea level and 160km from Sofia .
It has 65k of pistes and a fun park for both skiers and boarders sporting jumps and rails (not for the faint hearted!) The ski slopes are groomed every night and snow cannons keep a fresh guaranteed layer of snow on the pistes throughout the season. And with brand new fast Doppelmayr lifts installed throughout the resort (imported from Austria ) you won't be getting stuck in any lift queues. The highest peak is 2900m with a lot of off piste' to explore amongst many tall alpine trees reminiscent of the Rockies . There are also a great number of ski runs to suit both beginners and experts with a final run into town providing a gentle ski home at the end of the day. The ski schools in Bulgaria are notoriously good and cheap and we can help you organise group lessons or 1 on 1 tuition with our exclusive Salomon and Method ski schools. There are over 150 restaurants (mahanas) to explore from in Bansko which are all very cheap. The food is both delicious and traditional. A typical three course meal with a bottle of wine for two can cost around £15. All central restaurants and bars are around a 2/3 min walk from our chalet.
In our welcome meeting we will run over some yummy traditional dishes with you and point out some of the better restaurants in town if you are not taking advantage of out Fully Catered' accommodation.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
