Set across the white sandy shoreline of Great Cruz Bay, the Westin St. John sprawls over 47 lush acres studded with gently swaying palm trees, glorious bougainvillea and many species of flowering plants, symbolizing the natural beauty of the island.There's no need to ever leave the Westin; this is a fully self-contained resort full of activities and a variety of restaurants to keep even the most active vacationers happy.
With a vast quarter-acre swimming pool (the largest in the USVI) complete with two Jacuzzis, a waterfall and bar, three restaurants and a deli, a white sand crescent shaped beach and the turquoise sea right at your doorstep, it's tempting to hide away here. However, the newly-refurbished resort is just a 10-minute taxi jaunt or rental car ride to the island's main town of Cruz Bay, where you'll find shopping, great restaurants and quaint Caribbean ambience.

St. John is a wonder of unspoiled beauty. Along its rocky coastline are beautiful crescent-shaped bays and white-sand beaches, and the interior is no less impressive. The variety of wildlife on St. John is the envy of naturalists around the world. And there are miles of hiking trails, leading past the ruins of 18th-century Danish plantations to panoramic views. At scattered spots along the trails, you can even find mysteriously geometric petroglyphs of unknown age and origin incised into boulders and cliffs.
