Overview

Coasthanger Lodge is part of Castara Retreats - a new eco-resort superbly located above the fishing village of Castara and overlooking both the broad sweep of Castara Bay to the north west and the Caribbean coast with its glorious sunsets to the south west. Built on sustainable tourism principles, the cedar building blends beautifully into its rainforest and tropical garden setting - the perfect place to enjoy the abundance and harmony of the natural surroundings. The romantic bedroom has a queen size bed with full size frame mosquito netting and louvred windows to allow cooling breezes. The shower room adjoins - sheets and towels are changed every three-four days. The spacious living and dining area has panoramic dual aspect views and stylish furniture while the open plan kitchen is equipped to a high standard with fridge/freezer, cooker and high quality utensils, cookware and crockery. A porch area and wrap-around deck offers additional comfortable seating for relaxing or dining. All lighting can be dimmed to suit your moods and needs. Castara Retreats also offers three apartments sleeping 2-4 people and two additional lodges. Fisherman's is a renovated fisherman's shack for 2-3 people with its unique Caribbean character beautifully preserved while Birdsong is almost exactly the same as Coasthanger except that it has a second bedroom and en-suite shower room below the main floor. Castara's main sandy beach is just a four minute walk away as is the village with its little shops and cafes.

Amenities & services

Coasthanger is well equipped and comfortably furnished. The bedroom has white linen, towels,(changed twice weekly) good quality mattress with frame mosquito nets, a chair, chest of drawers, hanging space and bedside tables. There is an abundance of soft lighting throughout controlled by dimmer switches to suit your needs and mood. Jeanell, our housekeeper, is available to do laundry at a reasonable fee. The seating areas have white wicker furniture with colourful cushions and coffee tables. You have a choice of dining tables and chairs. A hammock, free-standing ventilation fan, hair dryer and iron are provided along with a CD player. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge-freezer, stove, plenty of utensils, good quality pots and pans, tea and coffee makers, toaster, crockery, cutlery and glassware.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud

It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:

  • It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
  • If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers.
