Overview

The Ecolodge Rendez-Vous offers comfortable accommodation to hikers and divers in 12 cottages situated at the edge of the rainforest in the middle of nature. All cottages have a porch with hammock, and most have a view of the ocean, a comfortable full-size bed downstairs plus two twin beds on the loft. Each cottage has a private bathroom and some are equipped with a kitchenette. A sweatlodge, hottub and swimming pool will make your stay very relaxed. Add that no locks or keys are needed because there is no criminality. The Rainforest Restaurant features gourmet cuisine and uses organically grown vegetables from its own vegetable garden. Fresh fruit juices and homemade ice cream and Dutch apple pie are always available. Vegetarian meals are available on request

Saba is a quaint little island; no casinos, no white sandy beaches, but a well-developed network of nature trails where the hiker can safely enjoy tropical rainforest and walk for hours without encountering anyone. Bird watchers, people interested in butterflies, moths, bats and orchids will not be disappointed. Also, the island is surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean and divers can enjoy spectacular pinnacles, hot springs, rays, sharks, turtles and healthy coral in a fully protected marine park.

Amenities & services

The sweat lodge is based on a traditional American Indian ritual. Volcanic rocks are heated in a wood fire and transferred to the lodge. Water is poured over the glowing hot rocks to create steam and herbs are sprinkled over the stones. After 20-30 minutes of profusely perspiring, guests can take a dip in a cold tub and then transfer to the hot tub. The hot and cold tubs are stock feed tanks that accommodate two persons. The hot tub is heated by a Chofu, a Japanese wood stove. An outdoor shower completes the complex. After a day of hiking or other physical activity, can you imagine anything more revitalizing? In May, Sally of the Saba Day Spa will also offer massages at the Ecolodge. The use of the hot tub and sweat lodge is included in the price of the massage.
