Overview
Villa Medicis is a fantastic Thai-style home, with impeccable interior design, and extensive outdoor living areas. Richly furnished with antiques and artifacts from Asia and Africa, the villa successfully fuses styles and themes, creating an elegant and comfortable ambiance. Perched on a hillside, overlooking Koh Samui's landmark golden Big Buddha temple and surrounding bay, the villa enjoys panoramic sunset views. Villa Medicis offers a private refuge that is conveniently located within easy reach of beaches and restaurants.
Built around a vast, elevated wooden deck, which can be reached up four separate stairways, Villa Medicis consists of three buildings. At the rear of the deck, on a raised platform, the master building comprises a living room, kitchen, study, master bedroom, dressing room, and bathroom, and second en-suite double bedroom.
The living room, which opens onto the deck, with concertina teak and glass doors, is floored in raw teak, and wood paneled throughout. A large TV and tropical aquarium compete with the stunning sea views, under the vaulted, wood paneled ceiling.
The master bedroom lies adjacent to the living room, with a concertinaed glass wall overlooking the pool and sea view. The teak floor, paneled walls and vaulted ceiling, are continued in the bedroom. A dressing room, with large built-in wardrobes, connects the bedroom to the bathroom and study. The bathroom is a masterpiece of design; contemporary Balinese inspired, featuring a centrepiece oval raised terrazzo tub under a glass roof. Behind the tub, a cascading waterfall sculpture plays soothing lullabies as you soak. Twin glass washbasins sit on a slate pedestal above the polished onyx floor. The bathroom walls are finished in artisan applied patina effect.
The study, which can also be reached from the kitchen, includes a desk, internet- ready computer system, telephone, and fax. The fully equipped kitchen opens onto the upper deck, where a teak dining set seats six for al-fresco meals overlooking Big Buddha bay.
Off the study, the second en-suite double bedroom with Queen bed has garden views on two sides.
The second building lies off the main deck, overlooking the infinity edge pool, and includes two large, en-suite double bedrooms, separated by a second kitchen. Both bedrooms are teak floored, wood paneled, with vaulted ceilings, TVs, air-conditioning, and Queen sized Opium beds. All walls in this building are hand-finished in patina paint effect.
On the other side of the deck and swimming pool, a large Thai Sala, or pavilion, provides an ideal in-villa spa location, where you can enjoy massages, or simply relax in the shade, and admire the stunning views of the sea, palm fringed beaches, and the big golden Buddha.
The pool runs through the deck, to an infinity edge, where it cascades down between twin staircases lead down to the large landscaped garden. The entire deck is several metres higher than the private road leading up to the villa, and very private. The hillside behind the villa remains undeveloped, being owned by the local Buddhist temple, whose golden Buddha completes the postcard views from the villa, and is particularly striking when illuminated at night.
On the ground floor, below the deck, are a garage, laundry room, and maids apartment

Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
