Gull Cottage is a 1 minute walk into the historic village of Russell, you don't need to drive the car as it is so close. There are 11 restaurants, cafe's, the historic Christ Church (oldest church in New Zealand), Flagstaff Hill, Pompallier House (oldest mission house, and a 15 minute ferry ride to the Waitangi Treaty House and Gardens where the famous Treaty of Waitangi was signed between the Maori and British in 1840.
