Overview

This magnificent country house is situated a pleasant 15 minute drive from the center of Rotorua and boasts 12 ensuite rooms, sweeping lake views and, superb facilities.



The perfect option for discerning travelers looking for something more personal than a hotel and more upmarket than your average B&B. Away from the main visitor hub and the sulphur fumes we are an ideal base for those wanting to explore the Bay of Plenty and experience Rotorua, the spiritual home of New Zealand's Maori culture and world renowned geothermal wonders, or for those that simply want to relax and refresh.



Kiwi hosts Kim & Andrew Martin are probably the youngest owner hosts you will find in New Zealand. They take imense pride in presenting HCE and personal care is taken to provide a warm peaceful atmosphere where guests can relax and unwind.



During the winter of 2004 Kim & Andrew have undertaken a major refurbishment of the manor. This will make it particularly pleasing to share the estate with guests over the current season.



On the first floor a grand balcony opens out from the lounge and is the perfect spot to relax and soak up the lake views. In the cooler months, the open fire provides a homely place to unwind and chat with friends, both old and new.



Lodge chef is a real asset to the house and never fails to delight diners. The intimate restaurant provides a perfect conclusion to a days sightseeing, offering chef's devine fresh country cuisine complemented by a select range of New Zealand wines.



After dinner, the bar and billiards room provides the perfect place to gather and socialise.

It is hard to believe this secluded retreat is just 15 minutes from the thermal and tourist attractions of Rotorua, a heartland of Maori culture.



As you follow the winding drive through established gardens and mature trees to Hamurana's great porte-cochere, you'll already begin to relax.



The Martin's love animals, so expect an enthusiastic greating from their friendly champion Schnauzers. As you explore the farm you'll also meet Kim's sporting horses, the Captian Cook pig, donkeys and cows, and see deer from the surrounding farm.



A passion for native New Zealand birds means that you will find many in the gardens, enticed by their favourite treats and habitats.



Outdoor facilities on the estate include the tennis court, petanque terrain, swimming pool, helipad, BBQ areas



All 12 en-suite rooms are individually decorated and offer lake and rural views along with a high standard of comfort. All rooms have telephones, televisions, bath robes, hair dryers and tea & coffee making facilities



Taniwha Suite

The Taniwha suite provides guests with a high level of sophistication. This deluxe super king suite with separate lounge room and two person spa bath ensuite is conveniently located on the ground floor. Well suited to those who want to treat themselves or as a family room for a couple with one child.

This deluxe super king suite is located on the lower ground floor opening out onto the swimming pool area. It's location, soft style and two person spa bath makes if very popular with young couples and honeymooners
