The Opua House is a Bay of Islands holiday house which is both exclusive and private and which enjoys spectacular bush and sea views. The Opua Bay of Islands holiday house is located just five minutes from Opua with its General Store, restaurant, yacht club, and Marina or ten minutes drive from Paihia which offers a range of cafes and restaurants, the Waitangi golf club and is the starting point for most of your aquatic activities.

HOW TO GET TO YOUR BAY OF ISLANDS HOLIDAY HOUSE:

By Car
Your Bay of Islands holiday house, The Opua House is just three hours drive north of Auckland via State Highway 1. Instructions on getting there follow:

State Highway 1 from Auckland to Whangarei (approx 2 hrs)
Remain on Highway 1 past Whangarei to Kawakawa (approx 40 min)
Continue straight ahead towards Opua and Paihia on Highway 11. Opua is 11km from Kawakawa. 1 km past the turn off to Opua is the Roadrunner Tavern on the left.
Turn left onto Ward Street (just before the Roadrunner Tavern). Turn left at the t-section then follow this road up the hill to the end. Continue along the Private Road. The Opua House is the fifth house on the left.
More detailed directions will be emailed to you once your booking has been confirmed.

By Air
Air New Zealand has regular daily flights from Auckland to Kerikeri (flight time 45 minutes). You can enjoy courtesy pick up from Kerikeri airport. Just let us know that you're arriving by air, when you're booking your Bay of Islands holiday house stay.

Guests at The Opua House have the choice of selfcatering, pre-ordering provisions or choosing a fully catered service using the talents of a first-class chef. We also provide a specialised chef who caters for vegans, wheat, dairy and gluten free diets. All three king size bedrooms open up to the decks. The residence has two bathrooms, one with a double spa bath, and a separate wet room shower. The furniture in the spacious lounge and dining room, including a large dining table seating eight people, was specially designed for The Opua House. The beautiful open plan kitchen features all the latest appliances, which means that if you choose self catering in your Bay of Islands accommodation, it's an enjoyable activity rather than an arduous task. The house also has a separate laundry.

One of the most striking features of Opua House are the original paintings and colours throughout the house, giving each room an individual character.

Fire Room
This is the entertainment hub of the house with bright colours, comfortable couches and a state of the art audio visual entertainment system including fast wireless internet access, cable and satellite television offering international channels, including French and Italian.

Sun Room
A glass pyramid roof, beautiful spiralled tiled floor, tropical plants, stunning views, and opening up to the deck make this room a special light day retreat or evening star gazing area.

Air Room
This is the master bedroom, all white, with abstract original art, a split super king-size bed and en-suite bathroom with double spa.

Earth Room
Another bedroom with the signature split super king-size bed. The 360° panoramic painting of the Bay of Islands and the peaceful sea and bush view make you feel one with nature.

Water Room
The third bedroom also features a split super king-size bed and is painted like the sea. The views of the Pacific Ocean are the finishing touch to the aquatic theme.

Special emphasis on low glycaemic food is an option.

Self Catering
The Opua House, Bay of Islands is a great selfcatering accommodation option. Guests can bring their own supplies and cook in the spectacular kitchen or shop in either Opua (5 minutes) or Paihia (10 minutes). Paihia offers also a wide choice of dining options ranging from take away, seafood restaurants, cafés and fine dining. The Bay of Islands is well serviced to make a selfcatering accommodation holiday option very easy and relaxed.

Pre-Ordering
You can also order from our shopping list of ingredients and arrive to a fully stocked fridge and pantry if you don't feel like supermarket shopping while on holiday. Your shopping will be charged at cost plus a NZ$50 handling charge.

A four-course meal will be delivered to your doorstep. All you have to do is the final preparation. Clear instructions will be given.
