Overview

Derwent Retreat is self contained and fully furnished. The property sleeps six people and all rooms have majestic views of the river and Mt Wellington. It has a master bedroom with queen sized bed and ensuite with shower and toilet. A second bedroom with a double bed and bedroom with two single beds are served by a second bathroom and separate toilet.

The property has a modern fully equipped kitchen with microwave, hotplates, stove and fridge. The laundry has a washing machine and dryer. On the balcony there is a gas barbecue and second dining table and chairs. All linen and crockery are provided and there is a TV, stereo etc. There are wireless broadband and computer facilities available. Central heating or wood stove for warmth, a local call only telephone, wireless internet for business and large garden with many natural rock features and small basketball court for relaxation.
Located on the Derwent River to the immediate north of Austins Ferry Yacht club and the launching ramp at the end of Austins Ferry Road, Derwent Retreat is only a short drive from the Brooker Highway and to get there you actually drive through historic James Austin Park where the first ferry in Tasmania was located. The property is an ideal Hobart base for business or pleasure as it is close to major business and tourist attractions. Public transport is easily accessed and shops are less than half a kilometre away. A Woolworths-Safeway Shopping Centre is one kilometre away. (See Activites). All main rooms have wonderful views of the Derwent River and Mount Wellington.

To get to Derwent Retreat find your way onto Main Road and follow north or south as the case may be to Austins Ferry. Austins Ferry Road is opposite the stone gates to historic Roseneath Park. Turn down Austins Ferry Road towards the water. Follow Austins Ferry Road to the end of the parks where you will see an old stone wall. Turn first right after the parks down Harbinger Lane. 12 Harbinger Lane is at the end of Harbinger Lane.
