Located at 4 Harbinger Lane Austins Ferry off Austins Ferry road Derwent Hideaway has three bedrooms, a bathroom with seperate toilet and wash basin, fully equipped brand new kitchen and laundry, barbecue, towels, linen, TV, stereo etc. Derwent Hideaway sleeps up to nine people and one baby (See Room/Bed Configuration). All main rooms have wonderful views of the Derwent River and Mount Direction. It has a large riverside garden dominated by two ancient oaks and at the rear there is a large pet enclosure.

The property is surrounded by water and there is parkland on the other side of Harbinger Lane. The local Yacht club and launching ramp at the waterside end of Austins Ferry Road and shops and public transport at the other are both a short walk away and easily accessed by vehicle.

Derwent Hideaway is an ideal base for business or pleasure as it is close to major businesses and tourist attractions and the Brooker highway which is the main route to Tasmanias west and north from Hobart. To get to the property you actually drive past historic James Austin Park where the first ferry in Tasmania and second oldest building in Tasmania are located.

Derwent Hideaway is rented short to medium term at competitive rates and is suitable for business people looking for somewhere to stay, a retreat or quiet place to work or holiday makers keen on sampling the many attractions that the Hobart region is famous for.

Location & area

To get to Derwent Hideaway find your way onto Main Road and follow it north or south as the case may be to Austins Ferry. Austins Ferry Road is opposite the stone gates to historic Roseneath Park between two groups of shops. Turn down Austins Ferry Road towards the yacht club and water over a rail crossing then turn right into Harbinger Lane just after the parks on the right hand side of the road at the top of a small rise. Follow Harbinger Lane next to the old stone wall. Derwent Hideaway is the third house on the left marked 4.

Derwent Hideaway has a computer and desk supplied. Broadband is also available at no charge provided it is not abused. We have a large book swap library. The property has a modern fully equipped kitchen with microwave, hotplates, stove and fridge. The laundry has a washing machine and dryer. There is a separate barbecue area with a second dining table and chairs. All linen and crockery are provided and there is a TV, stereo etc. heaters for warmth, a local call only telephone and, wireless internet for business and large garden dominated by two historic oaks planted by Lady Franklin and a great outdoor area for relaxation.
