Overview

The Elements is a very comfortable, fully equipped, bohemian style, western red cedar, oceanfront, Jervis Bay beach house, surrounded by 14 wonderful beaches & the Jervis Bay National & Marine Parks.

Cozy enough for two & spacious enough for ten, The Elements is an all-year-round getaway, whether sitting in front of the large open fireplace, soaking in the spa bath, sunbathing on the decks or watching eagles & pelicans floating past. Local dolphin pods & seasonal whales are also a regular sight.

Whichever way the wind blows there is a beautiful, sheltered beach to go to. Most beaches are very safe for children. If the north/north-easterly wind is too strong on Currarong/Warrain Beach, its only a three to five minute drive on dirt tracks to the white sands & sparkling water of Jervis Bays Cabbage Tree Beach, North & South Long Beach, Bindijine Beach & Honeymoon Bay. A 7 to 20 minutes walk through the stunning Beecroft Headland will reward you with a few small beaches that provide shelter from westerly winds. If the southerly comes up, Currarong Beach is perfect.

LOCATION

Currarong, a small landlocked fishing village of 400 houses, is located at the entrance to the Beecroft Headland, a peninsular which juts out about 16klms from the standard east coast line of Australia. This unique location means that Currarong often has different weather conditions than those experienced nearby in Callala, Culburra or Nowra. Facing primarily north/north west, Currarong & the Beecroft Headland have various beaches & rock platforms that allow you to watch the sunset over the ocean with beautiful mountain ranges in the background, on the east coast of Australia. Dolphin & whale watching is also a common occurrence.

The Beecroft Peninsular has some of the largest ocean cliffs in NSW (possibly in Australia) & a wide variety of bush walks leading to stunning scenery, inlets, gullies, beaches, caves, tunnels & rock outcrops. This location is also world famous for catching black marlin off the rocks. The Beecroft Peninsular is also the north head/entrance into Jervis Bay where you find some of the most beautiful pristine beaches in Australia. The Elements has easy access to these wonderful locations including The Point Perpendicular Lighthouse located at the entrance into Jervis Bay. Point Perpendicular has stunning views around Jervis Bay & is very popular for abseiling & whale watching.

ACTIVITIES

Activities include most water sports, snorkeling & scuba diving on numerous reefs, surfing, sailing, kayaking, ocean, rock & beach fishing (4 boat ramps in region), cycling, dolphin & whale cruises, numerous bush & beach walks, abseiling, huge variety of wild life (marine & bush), bird watching, tennis, golf is available at Callala, Worrigee & Nowra, & Coollangatta winery is a 40 minute drive away.

There are 9 stunning Jervis Bay beaches (and the Point Perpendicular Lighthouse) to experience & 4 Pacific ocean beaches connected to the Beecroft Headland, where you can watch the sunset over the ocean (unusual on the East coast). Most Jervis Bay beaches have pure white sand with emerald and turquoise water & are all unspoilt (check photos in the image gallery above). Due to the Dept of Defence, some Jervis Bay beaches (including The Point Perpendicular Lighthouse) are sometimes only accessible on weekends, school & public holidays. Another 2 fantastic Jervis Bay beaches, located at Red Rock, can be accessed from Currarong Road, heading west to Callala, all year round.

FEATURES & APPLIANCES

The Elements can sleep up to 18 persons. We have 6 bedrooms sleeping 13 on very comfortable beds (three queen beds & seven single beds) & 4 window seats (sleeping four) in living/dining area & two portable cots for baby. The Elements provides a two x 3 burner gas barbecue on decks, open plan living - dining & kitchen area (kitchen is fully equipped for classy cooking), dishwasher, Amway water purifier, electric toaster & jug, very large fridge with freezer, microwave, large open Jetmaster fireplace, electric oil heaters, stereo surround sound with dvd, video & large Sony TV, laundry with washing machine, dryer, ironing board & iron, spa bath with shower, outdoor hot shower for after the beach and two toilets, antique & rustic furniture, calico curtains, venetian blinds, ceiling fans, recessed halogen lights with dimmers & large grassy back garden surrounded by young native trees & shrubs.

LOCAL FACILITIES

Currarong has a petrol station/internet cafe/video shop, general store, newsagent/post office & most importantly Zacs seafood & pasta cafe, where you can buy fresh fish & either eat in or take away a wide range of excellent locally caught seafood, fish & chips & coffee etc. Nearest supermarket, chicken shop & butchers are located in Callala Bay. We prefer to use the butcher in Greenwell Point (great sausages & meats). Culburra Beach also has two supermarkets, butcher, seafood, pizza shop & Chinese restaurant. For most of the year you can also buy fabulous fresh oysters & lots of other seafood at Greenwell Point. Greenwell Point has two very good seafood restaurants as well.

TRAVEL TIME

From The Elements it takes about 20 minutes to drive to Greenwell Point, 25 minutes to Nowra, 35 minutes to Berry, 16 minutes to Culburra Beach & 10 minutes to Callala Bay/Beach. There are no street lights or heavy traffic throughways or major intersections in & around Currarong, Callala, Culburra & Greenwell Point. All driving is basically on easy fast country roads. From Sydney it takes 2.5 hours & 3 hours from Canberra.

Pets are allowed on the three inter-connecting decks where kennels can be made available. All three decks have roof cover only & a lock up gate to keep your pets in. Large glass & screen sliding doors on main bedroom and living - dining - kitchen areas, allow pets to keep close contact with owners at all times.

Tenants must provide mat/futon, litter & tray, food and drinking bowls.

Treatment for ticks & fleas are essential before arriving. Like most areas of the NSW coast line, Currarong has paralysis ticks. The nearest vet is in Culburra Beach (16 minute fast drive), although he has a clinic in Callala Bay two days a week.

From The Elements Beach House 150 metres west on Currarong Beach, dogs can run wild without a lead all day, for many miles. Before 8.00am & after 4.00pm dogs are permitted off a lead on all areas of Currarong Beach. Most areas of Currarong require dogs on a lead. You can also take your dog along the many fabulous tracks within the Beecroft Headland, behind Bosom Beach. Pets are not permitted in the Jervis Bay National Park.
