This is your property ?

Overview

A recently remodeled traditional Kyoto townhouse with a tastefully arranged tearoom, Ebisuya-cho evokes the atmosphere of life in old Japan. The long, narrow house has tatami matted rooms and traditional yet simple decoration. Guests can relax in the cedar wood bath while admiring the small tsuboniwa garden. Ebisuya-cho has been fully remodeled to comfortably accommodate six guests.

Enter through the beautifully arranged entryway into the refined tea room, which has a small hearth for tea ceremonies. From the next room, which is large and floored with tatami mats, guests can appreciate the garden. The adjoining kitchen has a refrigerator, sink, toaster oven, small electric stove, hot water pot, and wooden countertop. Also on the first floor, guests will find a Japanese-style ofuro bath (with shower) and a western-style toilet.

Stairs lead from the large tatami room to the second floor, which has two separate areas. At the front of the house is a wood-floored living room with nabeshima rugs and a large comfortable sofa. The rest is tatami floored and has room to sleep up to four guests. Two more guests can sleep on the first floor. We provide high-quality futon bedding, which can be put away during the day.

Ebisuya-cho is centrally located south of Shi-jo, to the west of Kiyamachi Street and the Kamo River and east of Karasuma Avenue.

Ebisuya-cho has been remodeled and is maintained by Iori Co., many of whose staff speak English fluently. Iori staff will help you check in and out and will clean the house for you during your absence. Iori also offers concierge services. Feel free to ask us about recommendations and arrangements for sightseeing, dining, shopping, and entertainment.

Ebisuya-cho is near the Iori main office and two other Iori owned machiya houses.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud

It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:

  • It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
  • If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
  • Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
