If you are looking for quiet seclusion within easy reach of Pietermaritzburg, on your own or travelling with a large group, Torwood Lodge is ideal.

Torwood Lodge is a 24-bed bush camp about 10 minutes from central Pietermaritzburg and the Liberty Mall. Comfortable accommodation is offered in eight, three-bedded air-conditioned wooden cottages. Each is fully equipped with high-quality appliances including stove, microwave, fridge and a full range of quality cooking utensils and crockery. All linen is provided. On the TV SABC and Mnet is offered.

We also offer the option of continental breakfasts delivered to each cottage.
Each cottage is fully serviced excepting on Sundays.

The spacious, charmingly decorated cottages offer three comfortable single beds. A dinning/sitting area and a private veranda overlooking the bushveld. Cottages with either a bath or a shower are available. There are lapas and braai areas between the cottages.

Between the cottages parkland lawns interweave through indigenous thorn tree veldgrass leading to a splendid rock swimming pool. Around it flat-topped acacias spread shade offering a perfect place for a braai.

The property’s extent is nine hectares of pure Natal bushveld with reedbuck and duiker roaming the grounds. There are birding walks set up around the property. Security is excellent as night guards patrol. There is also shady, secure parking.
Torwood Lodge caters well of large groups as well as individual travellers looking for peace and quiet.

We offer a very reasonable laundry service, as well as cool drinks, firelighters and charcoal as well as frozen braai packs are available. We offer substantial discounts for group bookings.

4x4 Enthusiasts note:

The lodge is owned by Andrew St.Pierre and Gwynn White. Andrew is also a bit of a personality, albeit only in the world of 4x4s. He is probably South Africa’s most well respected and recognisable 4x4 guru, having written twelve books on the subject that are sold all over the world and he has recently hosted his own TV show on the subject. The complete range of his books, maps and DVDs are available at the reception.
