Overview

Forest Creek nestles in a gorge of the Steenkampsburg Mountains, set in a Private Nature reserve of the Mpumalanga escarpment. The gorge is softened only by a blanket of shrubs and trees which have grown in this malaria-free zone over millennia, watered by the boulder-strewn creek that bubbles with the purest water imaginable.

It is only when one gets to the gate of Forest Creek Lodge that the rock-strewn grassland is left behind, one climbs up, and up, and enter this little enchanted world. The mystique of the place is tangible. A strong feeling of peace will overwhelm you.

(A question often asked is Where are you? Our reply is, if one was in Dullstroom and "jumped off the mountain", you would land in our gorge.

On this magnificent piece of land we hope we have catered for everyone, from Luxury guest suites at the main lodge to a self-catering cottage. A wonder for the Nature lover!

For the International traveler Forest Creek Lodge is an ideal place to relax and unwind after a long flight - a mere 130 kms to the Kruger National Park, enjoy the treatments in the private Forest Spa, or just enjoy the tranquility of the bush. There is a private Airstrip 8 kms from the farm, we provide transfers from the Airstrip to Forest Creek Lodge.

At Forest Creek you will dine on a four-course d hôte dinner served in our candle lit dining room (Table d'hôte is a French phrase that literally means "host's table".), a choice of five-breakfast menus. We have a small menu for lunch. Weather permitting we will cook on the braai. For those who wish to hike lunch packs are available. For those who have special diets, we request that you inform us prior to your arrival.

Built in rock hewn from the surrounding hills, a magnificent lodge-under-thatch has been constructed with views of the gorge and the surrounding cliffs and mountain, within earshot of baboon barks echoing down the valley. Come spend a few nights in the totally sublime luxury of the stone suite's, The ambience is complemented by the beautiful interior design and opulence of the furniture and facilities. All the suites have DSTV, mini bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities and bathrobes for your comfort.

CARMINE SUITE

Named after the Carmine Bee Eater.

This spacious suite supports a fireplace, his and her outdoor stone shower, private veranda with a small secret garden. A bath tub for 2 with plenty of candles, King sized extra length bed

NARINA AND CINNAMON SUITES

Named after the Narina Trogon and the Cinnamon Dove.

These suites have their own verandas, outdoor stone shower, Ball and claw bath tub set in the bay window looking into the bush. Queen sized 4 poster beds.

SWAINSON SUITE

Named after the Swainson Francolin (Spur fowl). This suite supports a bathtub for two with plenty of candles, Queen size bed.

SUNBIRD ROOM

This room is situated at the lodge, it has a en-suite bathroom with a shower and toilet. The bed configuration can either be 2 bunk beds and 1 single to accommodate three or a king size bed.

Indulge yourself in our private Spa overlooking the gorge, go home feeling relaxed and stress free.

THE ' BUSH BATH'

Set in a secluded spot, enjoy a 'Bath' in the bush, with lots of bubbles and champagne under the moonlight and stars.

GAZEBO ROMANTIC PRIVATE DINNER - Spoil your loved one, and request this romantic setting for a totally private candle lit dinner under the gazebo. Many a proposal of marriage has been accepted in this lovely setting!

HIKING TRAILS- Marked trails through the forest, along the stream, (where in summer you can see the tiny tree Orchids in Bloom) or in the mountains, where wild Aloes, Proteas and wild Rose Geraniums grow.

BIRD WATCHING - We have a prolific variety of uncommon species of birds which can be seen, including a resident pair of Black Eagles. We have a Forest Creek bird check list.

CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING - An interesting and testing range for the novice and experienced shotists. Use our Winchester 12 and 20 gauge shotguns for serious practice of just for fun.
