Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.

The oven was old and rusty(but functioning), the stove was greasy too. The new fridge was functioning very well.
The pots and pans provided need to be renewed.
Maybe it's because people thing when you're on holiday you only eat out. But when you stae the property is 'self-catering' you need to give the guests staying the opportunity to cook a proper meal.
We also found lots of light not (properly) working.
The 'beach' at the back is not really what you can call a beach. (you'd expect one if you read the description on the site and see the pictures) It was dirty, muddy and had lots of waste on it (plastic bottles, shoes,...).
The terrace was nice and the villa has a lovely well kept garden (Mr Dan -the housekeeper- is an angel!)
But the garden furniture is not. You'd expect some good chairs to lie/sit to enjoy the Mauritian sun. We only had one good deckchair. The other 2 were old and gave you black feet.
The house has got a lot of nice terraces where you could enjoy the view over the lagoon but there are no seats on them at all. A real pitty!
The welcoming packet did not have fruit in it al all.
The house was -thank god (except for the kitchen doors) very clean.
So overall this stay at Waters Edge Villa was a hugh disappointment.
We did not expect big luxuary but at least a villa that looked like the pictures they put on the site.
