Overview
Perfect destination for a sun holiday that can be combined with safaris to the principal game parks of East AfricaOnly 45km from Mombasa where you need to take the ferry (a colourful experience when it's your first time) to get to the South Coast. Villa Bahati is only 2 minutes walking to the beautiful beach, located near Galu Beach which is the southern extension of the well known Diani Beach. Here you find Kenya's premier hotels and resorts. Traditional thatched roof ensures that the villa remains cool in the hottest weather. Guests enjoy the use of the community pool (only used by guests of 2 other houses on the compound). The villa is staffed with a full time cook/housekeeper and a part time gardener. The staff do not live on the premises. At night security is assured by a guard on the property, supplemented by remote alarms in the main rooms (which we never had to use before.!). Villa Bahati is the perfect place to stay for a honeymoon, family with children, 2 couples,.
Regarding accessability, the kithchen, master bedroom, shower room and toilet (seperated from the shower room) are located on the ground floor.The kitchen is fully equipped. The master bed room has 1 kingsize bed. The second bedroom is located in the gallery, reached by stairs. This bedroom has 2 kingsize beds and the gallery also has a nice balcony where you can enjoy a nice breeze. Very nice for a sundowner. The cook/housekeeper will, on request, prepare and serve meals using supplies provided by the guests. His working hours are 8.00am-5.00pm with one hour break. Monday to Friday, half day Saturday, off Sunday. Overtime can be requested but is not compulsory. The hourly rate is KShs250 per hour, payable to the staff on completion of the overtime (daily, not at the end of the holiday). Our local agent will purchase on your behalf an initial supply of food and beverages. She will also guide you to the nearest supermarkets, restaurants and bars. She can also advise on car hire and safari arrangements if these have not been organised in advance. To go to the nearest supermarkets, restaurants and bars, you can use a rental car. We also can recommend reliable local taxi companies. Or you can use the matatu, a very cheap, small, local buss. Facilities for tourists include an 18 hole golf course, scuba diving and snorkelling, deep sea fishing and day trips by sailing boat or jet ski along the coast. Possible day trips include Shimba Hills Park (for the elephants) and old town Mombasa that is a world heritage site (Fort Jesus and the Arab influenced buildings). Your beach holiday can be combined with road safaris to Amboseli or Tsavo. The more adventurous can fly by light aircraft from Diani to Masai Mara or the Serengeti. All can be arranged through local agents prior to departure from Europe.

We would like to warn people who may want to stay in this house. A digital camera was stolen from one of our bags, which was in the large bedroom upstairs. This happened when the room was cleaned by the personnel of the house, and one of us was downstairs in the garden. The rest of our valuable belongings was fortunately stored in the car.
We immediately informed the owner of the house, Trui Pynket, who chose to neglect our complaint arguing that her staff was trustworthy. This was extremely disappointing for us, and ruined largely our holiday. One cannot have thieves in the house and be keeping all valuable things locked to avoid theft!
Despite this is a nice and relatively cheap house to stay at the coast, we definitely do NOT recommend it as the owner is not responsible for what happens there.

Important Notice : Avoiding Fraud
It's rare, but some helpful hints to watch out for with regards to fraud:
- It is important to NEVER wire funds or use/employ other fund transfer mechanisms such as western union: Always use a credit card to protect yourself against fraud. If owners pressure you into providing a deposit or refuse to accept credit cards, there is a high probability that this is a scam.
- If at all suspicious of fraud, ask to see their website, or any other literature they can provide or send to you. Ask them for contact details for guests who have previously stayed on their property insisting on telephone numbers. Be suspicious of emails that originate from free email services (yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc)
- Research the property thoroughly on the internet to see if there is any history or mention of scams associated with the property.
We will certainly go back as soon as possible, or even with friends to the bigger compound ebbony villas from the same owners just 500 meters furder and even more close to the beach.
