Overview

An English owned and managed oasis of epicurian delight, hidden away in a tiny alley, in the heart of Luxors bustling old town. From the terrace, we can see the Theban Hills, wherein are the Royal Tombs, the domains of Anubis, the jackal headed god of the dead. We can watch the hot air balloons looming out of the early morning mists to welcome the rising sun, which every day chases the shadows from the temples of the old gods.
We have designed our guest apartment to be the realisation of our dreams of the Arabian Nights, of Ali Baba's 40 thieves and of Aladdin, with his magic lamp.
You can come and join us, in this city which steals hearts and then, like some Genie, compels its lovers to forsake everything which has gone before.
For we are in Egypt, the real Egypt and the real Luxor........"Our Luxor".

Location & area

As far as we are aware, "ourluxor" is the only holiday rental on the East Bank, in the centre of Luxor. Within a few minutes of walking, you can be at Luxor Temple and the Avenue of Sphinxes, or Luxor Museum, in one direction, or at the Railway Station or the vast (9000 capacity) new Coptic Church in the other. In between are Luxors Gold Market, the Souks, two vegetable markets, fresh juice bars, various local take-aways, countless coffee houses and local restaurants, Mosques and a few Non-Conformist Churches. All of the many ancient historical sites on the East and West Banks of the Nile (The Valley of the Kings, Ramesseum, Karnak Temple etc.) are easily accessible in less than 30 minutes from our apartment. As is the Kings Valley Golf Club, the excellent Animal Care in Egypt (A.C.E.) Veterinary Hospital and Luxors only Quad Biking Centre. Within a five minute walk from our building, there are two hotels which allow non-residents to use their pools.

Amenities & services

The entrance hall sets the tone of the apartment, with its Moorish arch and meshrabeya screen, and antique furnishings standing upon the small hand made oriental carpet. Passing through another strikingly ornate arabesque screen one enters the spacious and comfortable living room. Here the beautiful furniture compliments the Arabian Nights decor, and the exquisite carpet, all hand made. The large air conditioner keeps this room cool in the summer and warms it during the winter. Two variable ceiling fans can also create a cooling movement of the air. As well as being great for lounging on, like an old time Pasha, the three dikkehs (Egyptian sofa beds) are also very comfortable as beds, with their full size single mattresses. The walls are adorned with antique pictures and a large antique mirror, as well as colourful wall hangings. The outer wall is taken up with large tinted windows, and doors which slide open to gain access to the "Smokers Balcony". The television is wired to a Satellite and a DVD player, various DVD's are available. On request, a CD player and CD's are also available, as is an additional selection of books for the small library. Entering the bedroom, we find the en-suite shower room and W.C. on the left and the in-built wardrobe on the right. The handmade twin beds can also be locked together to form a "superking" sized bed. This room also has an air conditioner/heater. There is a dressing table and mirror, for your convenience. To the left of the bedroom door, is a separate W.C. and wash basin. The kitchen is equipped with the usual necessities: cooker, fridge, hot and cold water, stainless steel drainer and bowl, toaster, kettle etc.
