Calhau --- The Sao-Vicente Precious Stone.

For anyone visiting Sao-vicente island, Calhau is a must stop place. This fishing village is located on the eastern part of the island, 14 kilometers from the city of Mindelo.
Its take only 10 minute to Calhau from Mindelo. On the way out of the city, wind power post prostrated on the hill side of the mountain and the vegetable garden along the side of the road reveal a pleasant sight to take excellent pictures.

As one approaches Calhau, the stream reveals itself verdant and beauty with the vegetable garden and date palms.

The fishing village of calhau which is in the past was visited only by the mindelo residents is nowadays one of the preferred tourist destination. Tourist services are growing in the area to attend to the demands. On the other hands, there has been an increase in the construction of summer home in the village of calhau even by the foreign citizen.

Beaches In calhau
Along the side of the bay, there are small beaches where one can see the bottom of the sea through a screen of crystalline water. The charm of Calhau beaches is the calm of the waves and the unique greenish blue colour of the water. To the left of the bay, a nook was built with sands, a diving board and stairs that lead to the natural pool. On the weekends, mindelo residents escape from the city of mindelo to Calhau village to cool down and eat grilled fish.

Calhau has a lovely beach and view of the mountain. Its has the natural beauty of nature, likewise a good place to be a lone with love ones and family.
